Brooklyn, NY – Stoops are known for being a common meeting ground for people to share stories and relax. With this in mind, F.O.K.U.S. designed The Stoop, its annual summer arts event, to serve as the artistic physical crossroads between individuals, communities and their respective artistic experiences. F.O.K.U.S. will produce the third annual event- The Stoop - in Fort Greene Park, Brooklyn, NY on August 14, 2010 from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m (rain or shine). The event is sponsored by New York City Department of Cultural Affairs, New York State Council on the Arts, Brooklyn Arts Council, Fusicology, NY Kings, Fresh Industries, Ogo Sports and riceworks. The Stoop 2010 is hosted by Circa '95 with music by DJ Synapse.

The Stoop is a free outdoor community gathering to celebrate the arts and healthy living. Last year we brought you The Astronomical Kid, Keys N Krates, Gist and many others. We continue to bring good music as this year will feature performances by artists of various genres (alternative, R&B, rap, poetry, gypsy rock) and promises to be a fantastic and unique addition to NY’s roster of summer events. The exciting and unique line-up includes: Si*Se, Pattern Is Movement, Kagero, XV, Ayodele Alli, and Ishmael Islam. There will also be live art, face painting, and an array of fun games for the entire family. Invited visual artists include Convoluted Construct, Alice Mizrachi and Free5.

We will also have StoryCorps and The Icla da Silva Foundation, and other organizations at the event for you to interact and learn about their unique opportunities. Invited organizations include: Urban Art Beat, Black Teen Empowerment Movement, Circa '95, YOUNITY, Soh Nup Industries, LIFEbeat and more.

In both the location and event programming for The Stoop, F.O.K.U.S. hopes to reflect and promote the cultural diversity found throughout New York City. We want to provide a stage for a range of artists to display their talents to a larger community, while also creating an informal environment for surrounding community members to interact with each other.

F.O.K.U.S.’ mission is to use the arts to create diverse communities; as a tool of community and self-empowerment, and to highlight the power of the arts and the impact that arts exposure has on our daily lives. We will continue this diversity in the performers, audiences and overall feel of The Stoop on August 14, 2010.
