Founded on the principle that “one of us is not as strong as all of us” Thanks Givends is an annual collective effort now in it’s 15th year led by Loslito of Walk Talkin to raise money for organizations that promote art and music programs for at risk youth.

This years beneficiaries are:

Mar Vista Family Center • Peace For Kids • My Friends Place

Creative Pieces • The Open Floor Society

Mar Vista Family Center

The mission of the Mar Vista Family Center (MVFC) is to provide low-income families with quality preschool education, youth enrichment, and educational tools to create positive change in their lives and in their communities. Every program adheres to the basic premise that it is critical to empower children, teens and adults to play vital and responsible roles – as decision makers, community leaders, mentors, classroom volunteers, and fundraisers.

PEACE 4 Kids

Peace4Kids provides programs and services for foster and at-risk youth from ages 5-18, and after they transition to adulthood until age 24. Peace4Kids is truly on the front lines in addressing the needs of foster and at-risk youth in the South Los Angeles neighborhoods of Watts, Willowbrook and Compton. They are dedicated to empowering foster & at-risk youth by providing community as family. They create a strong foundation through programs focused on creative expression and life skills, allowing our kids to discover their unique voice and limitless potential for success.

Through the arts, PIECES nurtures inspired artists, helps them discover hidden talents, explore new ones and network with community leaders for potential careers, business and educational opportunities. Their belief is that each individual carries artistic talents.  All one needs is the right environment, the resources and inspiration to awaken them – those are exactly the things that PIECES strives to provide.

                                                                                                                                                                         MY FRIENDS PLACE

My Friend’s Place assists and inspires homeless youth to build self-sufficient lives. In collaboration with the leading social services providers and educational institutions in the region as well as over 500 volunteers, we offer a free and comprehensive continuum of care that combines emergency necessities with therapeutic, health, employment and education assistance, and creative arts services through three programmatic areas: Safe Haven Program , Transformative Education Program, Health & Well Being Program

The mission of The Open Floor Society is to engage under-served youth in the art of improvisation to encourage self-empowerment through movement, dance and music fostered by a multicultural artistic community. Through different programming, The Open Floor Society hopes to provide youth with multiple options for personal creative expression, a deeper understanding of varied cultures, increased self-confidence and an array of skills that will cross-over and enhance other parts of their education and life.
