A FULL DAY of House, soul & afro inspired rhythms under the sun on the weekend of the fall equinox. The GetOpen Sessions Park Tour returns to Washington DC for the final outdoor house music session in Malcolm X/Meridian Hill Park. The equinox brings12 hours of day. Why not dedicate 8 of the hours from your weekend in the park immersed in sound, positive energy, dancing & healing with special deep house YOGA & QIGONG sessions set to the deeper vibrations of the house, afro, tech & the sonic spectrum. (FREE but registration is required via the ticket links).

Carrel Sound System will once again be providing the sonics with live drummers adding to the vibe delivered by DJs, Aphrosoul (MOJÙGBÁ, BKNY/DC, WPFW 89.3FM) / Deep Just (GetOpen Sessions, NYC/NJ, Mi Casa Holiday, Dancegruv Radio) & special guests Jahsonic (Eaton Radio, Eaton Workshop) & DJ/Producer Salah Ananse (Afrique Electrique, Atlanta Weekender, House in the Park).

So…pack your picnic blankets, coolers .chairs, tents & dust off your DANCE SHOES.

Aphrosoul (Lukumi People; MOJÙGBÁ, BKNY/DC) is a Disc Jockey, Spiritual Guide, Certified Yoga Teacher, Reiki Master Teacher, Indigenous Bohemian of Eclectic Soul Music taking you on a beautiful, sensual, thought provoking journey through Soul, Jazz, Funk, Disco, Deep House, Afro Rhythms and beyond. Lukumi People, is a manifestation of that journey. Aphrosoul Lukumi has spun along side and shared billing with DJ Spinna, Rich Medina, Quentin Harris, Danny Krivit, Tony Humphries, Barbara Tucker, Dawn Tallman, Julie Dexter, Donnie, Amel Larrieux & Grammy Nominated sister duo Les Nubians to name a few.

Aphrosoul Lukumi is a conduit, an instrument, a musical messenger whose lifelong connection to the music transcends mind, body, soul, spirit. He tells stories with with his selections; conveying feelings and taking you on a journey with music that comes from deep within.

Deep Just aka DJ AQuaBeaT is a DJ/Producer and the founder of GetOpen Sessions. He is a veteran of the NYC house music scene with over 25 years behind the turntables and even more on the dance floor. Deep Just is known for his technical approach, thoughtful selection and passionate sets. His productions, like his playing are a soul filled blend of afro inspired rhythms and deep tech beats rooted in musical exploration.

Deep Just has shared billing with some of the most influential house dj’s and producers in the business; Boddhi Satva, Dhundee, Op, Jihad Muhamad, ?uestlove, Josh Milan, Julius the Mad Thinker, Fred P (Black Jazz Consortium), Hallex M, Dj Qu, Oscar P, Spider (NYC), E-Man, Jose Marquez, Dj Disciple, Salah Ananse, Hard Hittin’ Harry, Master Kev, and Sabo to name a few. He’s played in NYC, New Jersey, Washington DC, Omaha, Boston, St. Louis, Denver; Atlanta, Mexico, Costa Rica, Cuba and at such festivals as The Winter Music Conference; Detroit Electronic Music Festival, Atlanta Weekender and Mi Casa Es Su Casa Holiday.

A native of Washington, DC, Jahsonic has been moving crowds at his weekly Monday night party – The Main Ingredient at Marvin since 2007. Before that, he got his start playing neighborhood house parties at the age of 11. His first paying gigs were residencies at the Blue Room, JIN Lounge and as one of the founding On-Air hosts and mixologists on 89.3 WPFWs ‘Decipher’ hip-hop hour. He was also a national finalist in the 2011 Red Bull “ThreeStyle” DJ competition in Las Vegas and recently played AfroPunk in Brooklyn.
Jahsonic is also the creator and curator of the monthly “Axel F” party, where he plays the finest in classic champagne soul, funk, disco and lazer boogie for appreciative crowds and of “Behind The Line” where he pushes the boundaries of what’s possible in music with a focus on timeless sounds.

With over 20 years as a producer and DJ on the Atlanta music scene, Salah Ananse’s talent as a DJ has put him on bills with notable DJ’s such as Vikter Duplaix, DJ Kemit (Kemeticjust), Rich Medina, DJ Spinna, ?uestlove and Kai Alce. He has also held opening DJ spots for artists such as Jay-Z, Dave Chappelle, India Arie, Joi, Res, Fertile Ground, Dwele, Les Nubians, Musiq, The Roots, Donnie and Raphael Saadiq. Not only does Ananse rock crowds for some of the Southeast’s most popular party series such as One Music Fest, House In The Park and his own Afrique Electrique & Sunday School, he travels the world bringing his unique mix of soul, house & hip hop. He’s held a recurring stint in Brazil and performed in Ethiopia, Argentina, England and many more countries.
Over his career Salah Ananse has expanded his brand to include signature events. His Afrique Electrique party, which started in 2009 has become one of the most popular events for soulful house at Miami’s WMC. His LOVESEXY party, which is dedicate to the work of Prince expanded to Chicago in 2015. His Sunday School parties remain a summer staple in Atlanta. He recently joined forces with former collaborator DJ Kemit to do The Late Night Ritual party series. He also joined forces with the other 3 DJs from House In The Park to create & produce The Atlanta Weekender which is celebrating its 8th year.


The GetOpen Sessions Park Tour’s mission is the realization of the GetOpen Sessions vision in a community friendly and family oriented outdoor environment by teaming with local events, community groups and holistic service providers.
