Innovators of free jazz perform alongside a new generation of artists at the intersection of R&B, electronic, hip-hop, and soul during an evening of live music and performance at the Black Fire Sessions at The Broad on Wednesday, August 14. The event features performances by legendary composer and multi-instrumentalist Anthony Braxton, vocalist/cellist Kelsey Lu, singer Jimetta Rose (who will also lead an a cappella jazz choir), rapper Beans (who will perform his politically-charged rhymes and fractured new school narratives), and Maurice Harris, who will animate the Soul of a Nation galleries with a durational intervention.
