The Sounds of Goodness (SoG) concert series is a musical salute to advocates and volunteers who serve the most vulnerable among us. Shared Harvest hosts SOUNDS OF GOODNESS: Wellness.Service.Relief.
This inaugural event of the series will be held on January 18, 2020 from 6-10 pm at the Blackbird House Women’s Co-Working Collective in Culver City, Ca. Our intimate concert is well positioned just before Martin Luther King Day and kicks off National Day of Service. We plan to honor our celebrity Ambassadors nominated by the Shared Harvest network and national community.
Changemaker Ambassadors of 2019:
Wellness: Melitta Johnson – Elgin Foundation for Wellness
Service: Taraji P. Henson – Boris Lawrence Henson Foundation
Relief: Hasan Minhaj – Patriot Act
These Honorees took bold steps to use their voice to help de-stigmatize mental illnesses and advocate for better access to mental health services that save lives. They’ve used their individual platforms to speak out about the challenges with our mental healthcare system and the compounding disparities brought on by the human resource drought and the $1.6 trillion student debt crisis exacerbating the problem for many immigrants and communities of color.
Shared Harvest created the first enterprise-level volunteer management solution and student debt rewards platform. This SaaS product was founded by three African American women physicians who want to spread prosperity through purpose and compassion.
“We don’t have to tell you how TOUGH the mental health game is. As doctors, we directly encounter the magnitude of the problem with the patients care for and even in our own personal lives. One thing we know for sure is that NO ONE should ever have to go at it alone, and our communities are rich with untapped and underfunded resources. So, when we read the stats that African American women carry the largest amount of student debt and still volunteer at record levels, we decided to do something game-changing.”
Sounds of Goodness is all about breaking free from the chaos and destructive noise and amplifying sounds of goodness, recognizing the voices affecting change, activating strong networks, expanding resources and promoting inspirational music.
We’re excited to welcome Meghan Sahli-Wells, Mayor of Culver City and the legendary and unapologetic trailblazer for service, Christine Simmons, COO of the Academy of Motion Pictures.
Arts and Music has always been the sister-science to health and innovation. We’re building the perfect ecosystem to support everyone from students to entrepreneurs.
Expect a delightful musical tribute from our lineup of eclectic local talent and special guest artists.
Allow yourself to connect with what’s good in the community in the most authentic way while supporting the volunteers on the ground and true agents of change.
The Blackbird House is a very special place founded by designer and activist, Bridgid Coulter. It truly is our ideal partner in Wellness, Service and Relief. Come out and join the celebration!
