Movement Electronic Music Festival Announces 2012 Lineup

The legendary Rap group Public Enemy will headline the 2012 Movement Electronic Music Festival in Detroit’s Hart Plaza on Memorial Day weekend along with renowned Chicago House-music DJ and producer Lil’ Louis. Detroit Techno-music icon The Wizard aka Jeff Mills will close out the festival.

Paxahau Promotions Group today announces the three headliners—Public Enemy, Lil’ Louis, and The Wizard aka Jeff Mills—and a partial lineup of 50 other performances including Juan AtkinsKevin Saunderson, and Mr. Oizo.

On Saturday, May 26, Chicago-born House-music producer and DJ Lil’ Louis will take to the main stage to close out the inaugural night of the 36-hour festival.

Public Enemy’s headlining performance at Movement on Sunday, May 27 will be the first time the group has performed at the Detroit festival and it will be just a month before the scheduled release of their newest album: Most of My Heroes Still Don’t Appear on No Stamp.

Detroit-born Techno DJ and producer The Wizard aka Jeff Mills will put the finishing touches on the three-day festival on Monday, May 28 on the main stage. He is looking forward to returning to his hometown for a performance at Movement.

“Playing in Detroit has been and continues to be, the highlight of my whole career in music. Our connections run dimensions deep,” said The Wizard aka Jeff Mills. “As always, I look forward to coming back home.”

“Our lineup for 2012 is comprised of artists who are innovators in their own right and who have deep roots within the underground worlds of their respective musical genres,” said Chuck Flask, artist coordinator for the Movement Electronic Music Festival. “With Movement, our goal is always to book artists who represent the purest form of the music we all fell in love with, whether they have been doing it for decades, or are an emerging talent new on the scene. With this announcement, we are well on our way to achieving our goal.”

Tickets for Movement are on sale now and can be purchased by visitingwww.Movement.us. The cost for a three-day weekend pass is just $75 and grants festival-goers general admission access to the festival grounds with in-and-out privileges. The cost for a three-day VIP pass is just $200 and provides festival-goers with many extras that can be found on the web site. 

The Movement Electronic Music Festival features: five technologically-rich outdoor stages; more than 100 artists; free Wi-Fi access on the grounds; a posh VIP setting located behind the main stage; dozens of official afterparties; an interactive technology center featuring the hottest gear in the industry; and several art displays to stimulate the senses.
