Girls Gone Vinyl Project Filming in Miami WMC 2012

On March 22, 2012, Girls Gone Vinyl presents its official WMC Project Event in conjunction with VOLATL Events, a nationwide promotions agency spearheaded by Nadia Podolsky.  The Chesterfield Hotel Lobby will play host to this smashing day party (1–7 p.m.), and the event will be filmed in its entirety as part of the Girls Gone Vinyl documentary.  The line-up of talent is bold and represents some of the most influential women in dance music today, including Desolat’s tINI and Kate Simko of Supplement Facts. Karina, who heads the Zoo Project in Ibiza, will also take a turn on the tables as well as GGV front woman Jenny LaFemme and Detroit’s Marissa Guzman. You can enjoy top-notch sound and music while supporting a fantastic project, as all proceeds from the event will go towards the film’s production costs.  Also involved in this event is NextAid, www.Beatsme.fm and Juicy Lucy Records.

Girls Gone Vinyl is a visual and aural documentary that focuses on female DJs, told by the women who fight to establish their place in the male-dominated world of electronic dance music.  Filming began in Detroit at the 2011 Movement Festival and, after a successful kickstarter.com campaign that raised $15,000, continued across Europe (in Amsterdam, Berlin, and London).  Production now moves to Miami for the annual Winter Music Conference, continuing to capture authentic accounts of the trials and tribulations facing women working in today’s dance music industry. Girls Gone Vinyl is produced by Maggie Derthick, longtime music promoter and founder of auextic and DJ Jenny LaFemme, co-founder of Parliament Studios of Clawson, Michigan. Jenny is an international female DJ in her own right and understands the difficulties women face in the male-dominated dance music scene firsthand.
