Four Color Zack Wins Red Bull Thre3style San Francisco Regional Qualifier
San Francisco, CA – Last Thursday March 1st, more than 1,100 music lovers packed into the sold-out venue of TORQ at Ruby Skye to watch Red Bull Thre3Style‘s Regional Qualifier.
Eight battle-ready DJs from Northern California and the Pacific Northwest came together to prove their supremacy as the top party DJ, and competed to move onto the National Finals which will take place this summer in Orlando, FL. In the end, Seattle’s pre-qualifier winner, Four Color Zack was named best on the decks, securing his position in the Red Bull Thre3Style National Finals in Orlando, FL. After Four Color Zack was presented his custom award, Bag Raiders performed a special set that capped off an amazing night of music.
The eight competing DJs included Four Color Zack, Playtime, who won the Portland pre-qualifier, and the remaining six DJs included Bay Area locals KingMost, Zita, Theory, Just, Miles Medina, and John Beaver. Each was tasked with performing a 15-minute set that included at least three different musical genres. The judges Aaron Axelsen (Live 105 Music Director and Founder of PopScene), Shortkut (Invisbl Skratch Piklz & Beat Junkies), Big Once (2011 Red Bull Thre3Style National Champion) and Bag Raiders (Australian Recording Artists & Production Duo on Modular Recordings), had the difficult task of selecting the winner based on their track selection, creativity, mixing skills, stage presence and crowd reaction.
In the end Four Color Zack took first place, Miles Medina secured second place, while Playtime took third place. When asked how it felt to win the Regional Qualifier and to be heading to the National Finals, Four Color Zack responded, “Fantastic, daunting, terrifying, awesome…all of those things!” In addition he looks forward to “seeing and hearing all the other DJs” at the National Finals, concluding that it “is going to be an amazing show!” Referring to his love for DJing as an ‘addiction’ Four Color Zack is also an accomplished design director and business owner, who recently opened his own skate shop in Seattle. Although Four Color Zack is humble with his first place win in San Francisco, he’s confident in his work ethic to deliver another dazzling performance in the upcoming National Finals in Orlando, FL.
Four Color Zack and the other regional qualifying DJs will go on to compete against each other at the Red Bull Thre3Style National Finals, which will be hosted this summer in Orlando, FL. After solidifying his/her reputation as the most party rocking DJ in the U.S., the National Champion will battle against DJs from all over the globe at the Red Bull Thre3Style World Finals, which will be hosted in Chicago.
