DO YOU WANNA BOOGIE?

“Your voyage is complete. Your bubbling with excitement!”

As soon as you walk into your hotel room and drop your luggage, what’s the first thing you wanna do? … Yep, throw on some breezy moon-lit attire and get connected with the other Mi Casa Holidayer’s. Old and soon-to-be new friends make contact, vibe with excitement and plot out the life-changing weekend. However, before moving forward, let’s reflect on the tunes that drove us here in the first place. Classics, Boogie, Disco courtesy of DEL, Dirty & Aaron Dae.

So, do you wanna Boogie?

UHURU AFRIKA shouts ¡WEPA!

“Be ready for an electric celebration focussed on Afro-diasporatic and Afro-Latin rhythms to close out the first night of your weekend”

It’s become tradition now to embrace Adam Gibbon’s famed celebration of Afro-diasporatic dance-scapes ala Uhuru Afrika. The monthly Boston event is a sell-out staple amongst the city’s vibrant nightlife. But just to up the ante this year, we’re adding one more ingredient to this already intoxicating equation … ¡WEPA! ¡WEPA! is a celebration based on Joann Jimenez and Antonio Ocasio’s Afro-Latino roots, creating that “the way it was on the block” vibe they experienced growing up as New York Latinos (Neoyorquinos).

In case you didn’t know… ¡WEPA! is an exclamation of happiness and approval amongst Latinos, like “Ohhh yeah!”. It is normally yelled at a high volume. You must say it nasally or there is no effect. It is pronounced “weh-pah”

Get Ready!!!!

IT’S HER TURN (LE TOCA A ELLA)

“Fellas! Honor the women in your life and make way for the Queen…It’s her Turn!”

With a twinkle in the eye and natural intuition as her secret weapon, are female friends creating an awe-inspiring, amazing experience. Every music selector knows that the sacred feminine energy is key to a dance floor, but on this sunny afternoon, our ladies will own the dance floor, the microphone, AND the DJ booth.

¡EXPRESATE!

“I Love it when you call me Big Poppa” sings the crowd in unison as hands bob up and down to the beat!

Who doesn’t love the Golden Era of hip-hop? From Tribe Called Quest, Slum Village, Naughty By Nature or Black Sheep – it’s a sound that we all jammed in our cassette tape players or CD walkman at some point in our lives. We’ll be bringing back the love, memories and nostalgia of yester-decades.  Now add Bboys, DJ’s, Beatboxers, MC’s and the thriving local artists of Playa Del Carmen! This event is an outreach to the PDC youth hosted by our very own DJ Emmaculate and Conrad Rochester.

UNITED NATIONS CELEBRATION

“At Mi Casa Es Su Casa Holiday, we are blessed to have travelers from many places around the world join us. The dancers are the delegates while the DJ’s present an agenda of peace!”

Now that it’s been over 24 hours since you’ve landed, you feeling the diversity & warmth of the Mi Casa crew yet? People from all around the globe have joined us for this holiday, and at this occasion, we celebrate our meeting at the crossroads. Just imagine if WE could create the United Nations … The dancers are the delegates and the DJs present the issues from around the world. And for one night, there’ll be nothing but expression & music to discuss at the roundtable we call a dance floor. Expect luxurious big room business as Hallex.M (United Music Records, Aqua Group, Hong Kaong) once again leads the deep house charge alongside a multinational line-up.

TURNTABLES ON THE CARIBBEAN

“Straight from New York City, we bring you the 12yr phenom party Turntables on the Hudson…but in Paradise”

Last night we put you through the whirlwind of Playa’s multi-colored nightlife. Best 5 a.m. tacos you’ve probably ever had, huh? Straight from New York City, we bring you the 13-year phenom party titled Turntables On The Hudson (TOTH), headed by the cross-continental music alchemist we call Nickodemus. We’re bringing the city that never sleeps down south to paradise to do it like only New York can. Instead of the dusty depths of the Big Apple’s Hudson River, we’ll be ocean-side, getting hot on the dancefloor and cooling out on the beautiful beaches of Tulum.

AID TO THE SOULLESS

“After being wounded by the excessive commercial music, you are suddenly surrounded by futuristic Doctors and Nurses prescribing Aid to the SouLLess”

Picture this- its the year 2021 and all our people have been at war with the traitorous scoundrels of the world of commercial music.   All of a sudden you find yourself on the front lines of a battle with the same song you hear every day blaring loudly on the radio and just when you think you’ve tuned it out BAM! it penetrates you like a bullet right into your soul.   You fall down and think “its all over”- but you awaken hours later on a two story vessel after being revived. You notice many others who are also being revived. THat’s right! Theirs an entire staff ready to battle for Soul Supremacy and Originality. Get decked out in nurse, Doctor, war soldier gear, and help us provide Aid to the SouLLess!

AMBASSADORS on SUNDAE

“It’s not over between you and me” . . . We’re not done with you yet! We want you dancing all the way to the airport!”

If you’ve been to the Winter Music Conference in the past four years and caught the closing Ambassador party, then you know this must-attend party will be the perfect way to round out an amazing weekend. Sprinkle the Philly-wonder party known as SUNDAE on top, and you and the family may not want to leave. The signature music programming blesses up the dancefloor with reggae & dub sounds, progresses into mid tempo and then caps off with myriad of sub genres in deep house. Keith Evan and Lee Jones will be narrating this journey with assistance from Francisco C. Past Ambassador & Sundae guests have included Rich Medina, jojoflores, Josh Wink, David Harness, King Britt, Halo, ?uestlove, Ben Watt, Djinji Brown, Rocco, Jay-J, Joey Negro and Diz.

Do you have enough voice left to scream out for one more encore track?

UNTIL SOON SOIREE

“It’s so hard to say goodbye”

After last call at the Ambassadors party, consider this the last supper, or drink, or conversation, or hug, or kiss. This is where everything coalesces. All the new friends you’ve made, all the old ones you’ve reconnected with and all the many amazing Moments that are swirling around in your head. These are the ingredients you’re working with as you sit down to break bread with the familia in gratitude. Exchange contacts and pose for that last picture. Is the anticipation for next year pulling at your heart? The final soundtrack of your weekend will be provided by Raleigh and Mosaic’s Steven Feinberg and Keith Ward

Don’t worry— Season 5 will be staring you in the eyes before you know it…

29 – MIKEYTOWN | I LOVE HOUSE MUSIC | DIVE | SAN DIEGO

“Just as a die hard HOUSE HEAD alone, I have to share that no other party, conference, or festival can come close to what MiCasa does. It brings together the best of like hearted minds, bodies, and souls through one thing….. House Music. The ties and friendships made during this time are for a lifetime.

“Music Is My Religion, House Music Is My Church”

Bio:

Peter Michael Abat was born in Washington DC, grew up in Virginia Beach and now calls San Diego home. Music has always inspired Mikey. At the age of 15, Mikey had a following by playing freestyle, hip hop and Miami bass. Influences on his music during this early stage included Ghetto Style DJ’s of Two Live Crew, DJ Laz, and DJ Magic Mike. Mikey’s exposure to house music began in the early 90’s with such artists as C&C Music Factory, Jomanda, and Jungle Brother’s track “Ill House You”. What first captivated his interest in house music was listening to Tony Humphrey sets on the radio station KISS FM, broadcasting from New York City. Mikey’s full awakening to the House Scene arose when he moved to the West Coast in 1998. It is during this time period that he became fully devoted to House music. House music became his church.
