Hip Hop Hall of Fame Museum to Go-Green Energy & Technology in NYC Building and Exhibit Designs
The Hip Hop Hall of Fame is moving forward aggressively to explore the use of green technology and conservation mechanisms in the development of its Museum site. The goal is to build a state of the art facility with all of the available cost and energy saving technologies that are currently in the marketplace. This will include everything from doors, windows, insulation, furniture, heating, cooling, water usage, storage, staging, lighting, audio, energy conservation, energy generation, waste disposal, recycling, customer service, and exhibit designs.
There will also be an educational component to the program that will be available to the estimated 20,000 local school children who will visit the facility on field trips, or who see the official mascot ‘DJ B-Boy Scratch & Friends’ on tour doing special shows and public service announcements.
“This is what sets the Hip Hop Hall of Fame apart from other groups, as our focus is not just on preserving and archiving Hip Hop History, but contributing to the positive growth and education of our youth through education, mentoring, and job training. The plan is to also expand Hip Hop Music & Cultural opportunities for Artists, Executives, Service providers, and Businesses to grow volume worldwide,” stated JT Thompson, Chairman and Executive Producer of the Hip Hop Hall of Fame Awards TV Show.
The ‘Go Green’ campaign is the brainchild of Easy AD of the Legendary Cold Crush Brothers who also serves as Brand Officer of the Hip Hop Hall of Fame.
Green technology will also be incorporated into the museum operations by utilizing recyclable materials, paper products, and building materials that will be included in the final design and operational plans. The Hip Hop Hall of Fame will also seek out New York City & State Agency programs that assist, provide services, and encourage companies and organizations to utilize green technology.
These elements will be included in the final RFP for Architects, Engineers, Contractors, and Exhibit Designers. for the Midtown Museum project. The facility will include the Hip Hop Hall of Fame, Museum, Retail Gift Shop, Restaurant, Concert Lounge, Arcade, Broadcast Studios, Corporate Rooms, and Offices. Project is expected to begin in 2013 with an estimated grand opening in late 2014 to early 2015.
