Sharon Jones & the Dap Kings are set to return to the road for a full North American tour this Spring. This is the band’s first full US tour in over two years. The tour kicks off with a hometown show at New York’s Beacon Theatre on February 6. Special fan pre-sale begins November 12th on the band’s website while standard ticketing begins Friday November 15th.

In the meantime, fans can cheer for Sharon and the Dap-Kings as they perform on a float in the 87thannual Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade, which will be televised nationally on NBC. More info here.

In looking forward to performing on Thanksgiving, Sharon Jones recollected, “Getting to take part in this parade is so thrilling; I’ve been watching it on television since I was a young girl.” She added, “I have traveled a hard road this year and being thankful is something I relate to deeply,” says Jones.

For the uninitiated, 2013 has become a year of unforeseen challenges and transformations for the band. Three months before the original scheduled release of the group’s highly anticipated fifth studio record,Give The People What They Want, Sharon Jones was diagnosed with cancer.

What was projected to be a hectic and exciting year touring worldwide was quickly taken over by hospital rooms, doctors, and many unknowns. At 57, Jones has lived through her fair share of hardships and heartbreak, but being separated from the stage and her fans would prove to be the most difficult challenge yet.

Thanks to an extremely gifted medical staff, several months of recovery and the infinite love and support from friends, family and fans, Sharon is back, ready to once again join her Dap-Kings as they share their music with people around the globe.

Give The People What They Want now seems an even more appropriate title for Sharon Jones & the Dap-Kings’ coming release. After more than a decade of nearly constant recording, collaborating and touring as one of the most formidable and consequential lives acts performing today, they know what their audience wants from them.
