Like the saying goes, “One small action can change the world,” and today will.i.am and EKOCYCLE are joining forces with Global Citizen to rally around that notion in the name of Mother Earth. Shining a spotlight on sustainability, the team hopes to encourage people to pledge to make a difference on #ADayWithoutWaste, April 9.

The recycling campaign aims to inspire people to look at everyday patterns of waste consumption in an effort to make even the smallest change that will result in environmental protection. Actor Colin Hanks has pledged his support and additional celebrity talent will follow.

To kick off the campaign, the Global Citizen Nights Concert at SXSW featured The Fray, Allen Stone and Saints of Valory with photo booths offering attendees the opportunity to think about their consumption habits and then capture their visual commitment to taking more conscious steps toward reducing their waste.

Starting today, people can register at ADayWithoutWaste.org and take the one-day pledge, committing to make a positive social change in the world.

People can also share and measure the impact of their zero waste actions via myActions.org – an online community and social tool that tracks the digital sharing of real world actions.

The organization will measure the number of actions inspired through the #ADayWithoutWaste campaign.

It is the goal of EKOCYCLE and Global Citizen to secure 150,000 actions from participants around the world beginning today through Earth Day, April 22.
