DETROIT, April 8, 2011—Paxahau announces Richie Hawtin, Little Dragon, The Dirtbombs, Flying Lotus, Delano Smith, Space Time Continuum, plus 47 more acts (totalling 106 now!) have been secured to perform at Movement Electronic Music Festival in Detroit’s Hart Plaza, May 28-30.
With this third round of artists announced for Movement, there are many names that will be must-see acts for festival goers. Little Dragon is a band from Sweden on the rise due to their inherent talent and also their supporting role in the recent Gorillaz album and tour. Just a couple of weeks ago they played live on Jimmy Fallon. One of the more recognized names in ambient electronic music, Space Time Continuum, will play live at the festival for the first time since 2000. He has worked with notables such as Terrence McKenna and Bill Laswell, to name just a few. Legendary Electro act, Detroit’s own Aux 88 is headlining the Red Bull Music Academy Stage with a full-scale live performance. In this day and age of laptop musicians, Aux 88 is a sight to behold, practically bringing their whole studio on stage with them. 20 year Dance music veteranVictor Calderone will bring his ever-evolving sound to Movement. After being a resident of Pacha in New York for years, and working with Madonna to remix many singles for her, Victor has taken his formidable music knowledge and dj skills back to the underground, heading in a more techno-centric direction.
One year after an epic Plastikman performance on the vitaminwater main stage that was followed the next night by a performance of his classic tracks on Beatport stage, Richie Hawtin returns to Movement, this time with many of the notable acts from his roster on stage with him, includingAmbivalent and Gaiser.
The Dirtbombs, a Detroit garage-punk band, will offer festival-goers a brand new twist on some Techno classics from the 80s and 90s. During their live set at the Movement Festival they will perform tracks from their album “Party Store” which offers the band’s interpretation of some of Detroit’s most recognized Techno hits.
Some of the reinterpreted tracks festival-goers should expect to hear are “Alleys of Your Mind” originally by Cybotron, “Strings of Life” originally by Derrick May, “Good Life” originally by Kevin Saunderson, “Bug in the Bassbin” originally by Carl Craig as Innerzone Orchestra.
“There’s is no bigger honor than playing the Vitaminwater stage at Movement this year,” said The Dirtbombs drummer Ben Blackwell. ”To be covering the songs of Juan Atkins, Derrick May, Kevin Saunderson, Mike Banks, et al in front of a crowd that knows their catalog inside and out will be a challenge to say the least.”
Their Monday, May 30 performance at Movement 2011 kicks off a seven-city tour that will conclude July 16 in Detroit at the popular garage-punk venue, The Magic Stick.

Grammy-award winning reggae band Steel Pulse will be replacing Sean Paul and bringing their reggae roots sound to the Reggae Day stage for a grand celebration of 25 years! Most well-known for their albums Handsworth Revolution and Babylon the Bandit, Steel Pulse has been entertaining reggae fans around the world since the late 1970s!
The 25th Annual JazzReggae Festival at UCLA excitedly announces the details of this year’s original art components. This year’s festival will feature live painting on a 360 degree canvas featuring artists such as renowned graffiti writer Man One and Brainfeeder’s Teebs, with more to be announced. The festival with also boast a special collaboration between radio collectivedublab and live screenprint artists HIT&RUN to create an interactive, sustainable art installation. There will also be an outdoor art gallery for attendees to view and purchase art provided by LA gallery HVW8 as well as other local LA talent. The VIP and deluxe areas on the grounds will be curated with art created by Think Tank Collective, including live sculpture art in the VIP area. With interactive art throughout the festival, attendees and artists alike will be integral to the atmosphere in JazzReggae Festival’s 25th year.
Man One, founder of L.A.’s underground art gallery Crewest and one of L.A.’s best-known muralists, has been making bold and innovative urban art for over fourteen years. Distinctively daring and vividly colorful, Man One’s murals and designs were cultivated in L.A.’s graffiti art scene with a passion for purpose through aerosol. Man One has been showcased at the Museum of Contemporary Art in Los Angeles and the Parco Museum in Tokyo. Throughout his successful career, Man One’s designs have been used for feature films and music videos, and have been sought out by MTV, ESPN, and Adidas among many others. Acclaimed worldwide, Man One will display his craft for all in attendance at this year’s festival.
Teebs is most known as a successful electronica artist; signed to Flying Lotus’ record label Brainfeeder , Teebs is also a member dublab’s radio collective and music group My Hollow Drum, and has been chosen as a Pitchfork top pick electronica artist. However, Teebs is also a talented visual artists with a unique and recognizable style. Known for transforming thrift store-bought record sleeves into energetic and colorful pieces, Teebs’ talent manifests everywhere from walls to canvases.
