Red Bull Music Academy presents Peven Everett | Listen & Love

Studio Confession, Chicago

Peven Everett is a man of many talents. The producer, songwriter, vocalist, and multi-instrumentalist has been immersed in music of all kinds from a very young age. Born into a musical family of singers, he grew up listening to gospel, jazz, soul, and African rhythms shaping his future musical style. Having gained a scholarship at Berklee School of Music, Peven got his big break when he met Betty Carter in the early 90s, whilst working at Carnegie Hall. This led to him going on the road with Carter and Wynton and Branford Marsalis. Over the years he has played with many jazz greats all over the world. Having made his name on the jazz scene, Peven diversified his career with collaborations for groundbreaking house cuts including Men From The Nile’s ‘Watch Them Come’, and ‘Gabriel’. The latter saw Everett working with Roy Davis Jr., adding his exquisite vocals to a track that became hugely important to the developing UK garage scene of the late 90s. Since 1996 Peven Everett has been making music non-stop, and this won’t change anytime soon. His album output is in double figures, showing off his continuing commitment to spreading truth and love to the masses.
