NEW RELEASE: Georgia Anne Muldrow “Owed To Mama Rickie”

Funk and soul visionary Georgia Anne Muldrow is back with a brand new album, Owed To Mama Rickie, available everywhere today via animatedcartunes.

Georgia Anne Muldrow is hardly new to the music scene, having worked with the likes of Erykah Badu, Mos Def, and Madlib. Her newest project, Owed To Mama Rickie, pays tribute to her mother, Rickie Byars Beckwith, a former jazz singer and current Music and Arts Director at the Agape International Center in Culver City, California. Having laid the foundation for Georgia’s artistic background, the album title is a play on words—as much as it is an ode to her mother, the album was “owed” to Rickie as payment for the debt and tribute to Georgia’s spiritual and formative upbringing.

On Owed to Mama Rickie, Georgia taps into her spiritual roots with insightful lyrics, while the beats remain true to her funky signature sound. The lead single “More & More” is a duet with GRAMMY nominated singer Bilal. As always, she produced all of the songs on Owed To Mama Rickie, with the exception of a southern soul remix of “More & More,”produced by Terry Cole of the Jive Turkeys. Other standout songs from the 13-track album include “Dr. Feelgood,” a cautionary tale of bloodthirsty sugar daddies, and “Ez Duz It,” a calming joint about neighborhood stories.
