New Orleans native Clarence Johnson III is a celebrated saxophonist, recording artist, educator, and performer whose dynamic style blends jazz fusion with “Coltranesque Impressionism” and Sun Ra-inspired futurism. Over a career spanning more than three decades, he has appeared in film and television projects including Ray with Jamie Foxx and PBS performances with Allen Toussaint, while collaborating with an impressive range of artists such as Delfeayo Marsalis, Dr. John, the New Orleans Jazz Orchestra, members of the Neville Brothers and The Meters, as well as international icons including Aretha Franklin, Gladys Knight, The Temptations, and Wynton Marsalis.
