A towering figure in American music, trumpeter, composer, arranger, and producer Herb Alpert achieved worldwide fame with his Tijuana Brass project, whose 1965 album Whipped Cream and Other Delights sold over 6 million copies and became a cultural icon, featuring songs that have remained part of the public consciousness including “Tangerine,” “Love Potion #9,” and “A Taste of Honey,” which won that year’s GRAMMY for Record of the Year. Over a storied career that reflects the omnivorous talent of a true Renaissance Man, Alpert has earned nine GRAMMYs, fourteen platinum albums, five #1 LPs on Billboard, and a 2006 induction into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in addition to his life as the co-founder of A&M Records, work on Broadway, and as a visual artist.

Alpert released fifteen albums with the Tijuana Brass, popularizing songs like “Spanish Flea” and “Tijuana Taxi” while setting a Guinness record in 1966 with an unprecedented five albums in the Billboard Top 20 Pop Album chart at the same time. He is the only artist to have a #1 record as a singer, with “This Guy’s in Love with You” in 1968 and as an instrumentalist, with “Rise” in 1979. His 2021 album, Catch the Wind, is an inspired collection of originals and covers, featuring vocalist, musical partner, and wife Lani Hall — a GRAMMY-winning artist who has recorded fourteen albums as a solo artist and was the original vocalist for pianist and bandleader Sergio Mendes’ wildly popular Brasil ’66.
