Pan-American Hoy! is a celebratory snapshot of the colorful, vibrant community of musicians across the Americas, featuring up-and-coming artists who highlight the rich traditions and contemporary creativity.

iLe’s ability to move between boleros, ballads, boogaloo, and more has been celebrated by everyone from NPR to Bob Dylan. The New York Times called her Grammy-winning 2016 album iLevitable “a knowingly retro survey of Latin music’s past, full of romance and a longing that can despondent,” while her 2019 album Almadura blurs the boundaries between the modern and the traditional, a personal portrait that takes on Puerto Rico’s past and reflects on its future.

Colombian-born, Toronto-based singer and producer Lido Pimienta takes inspiration from everything around her. Her music draws together afro-latin sounds—from palenque to cumbia—and is influenced by indigenous Canadian musicians like A Tribe Called Red and Tanya Tagaq. After winning the Polaris Music Prize for her 2016 album La Papessa, she released Miss Colombia in 2020, whose “avant-Latin sonic palette” was revered by Rolling Stone and named one of the best albums of the year by NPR.

Travis Birds opens the night with a set that looks to the roots of Spanish music to find the seeds of the future.
