Jamal Damien is a Chicago based multi-instrumentalist, composer, and educator hailing from Pennsylvania. Although he is known traditionally for playing the trumpet, Damien utilizes his skills as a drummer and pianist to influence his process of composing and creating. Damien accredits his sound and approach to musical greats such as Freddie Hubbard, John Coltrane, Roy Hargrove, and Ambrose Akinmusire.

Damien graduated from The Eastman School of Music in 2021 where he studied with world renowned trumpet player Clay Jenkins. Damien currently studies with Chicago greats Ernest Dawkins and Vincent Davis and has shared the stage with musical greats such as Billy Harper, Sherman Irby, Danilo Perez, Tim Hagans, and Maurice Brown. Damien performs around the country at esteemed venues such as Chris’ Jazz Cafe, Grand Ole Opry, Jazz At Lincoln Center, as well as famed Chicago venue Andy’s Jazz Club, Dorians, Constellation, Elastic Arts, House of Blues Chicago, and the
Millennium Park Jay Pritzker Pavilion.

Damien currently plays around Chicago with pop/r&b group “Attack The Sound” as well as Ernest Dawkins “Live The Spirit Residency”. Damien performs regularly with his trio and quartet with a standing monthly residency at 57th Street Wines
