What are the roots of America’s greatest art form? Jazz Americana offers an answer. In this Rose Theater performance, the JLCO with Wynton Marsalis leads audiences through the music’s earliest era, integrating elements of blues, gospel, country, and bluegrass and featuring captivating new arrangements of works by Louis Armstrong, Jelly Roll Morton, King Oliver, Sidney Bechet, and the New Orleans Rhythm Kings as well as Duke Ellington’s NOLA-inflected music of the 1920s. The JLCO will be joined by very special guests Terry Waldo, Mark O’Connor, Shenel Johns and Gavin Rice, and the evening will include premieres of new compositions by Dr. Michael White and Terry Waldo.
