Kick off 2025 with an unforgettable night of music, unity, and purpose! Jazz In Compton proudly presents its first official event of the year—a soul-stirring evening dedicated to celebrating community and uplifting those in need.

In collaboration with Unity Church of Compton, we are coming together to raise critical funds for families affected by the devastating Altadena fires. While many have begun to rebuild, there are still those who need our support, and this concert will serve as a direct lifeline of hope and assistance.

Join us as we showcase some of Los Angeles’ finest jazz artists and musicians, bringing you an immersive experience of powerful performances, rich culture, and heartfelt giving. Whether you’re a lifelong jazz lover or just looking for a beautiful way to start your week, this night promises to inspire, uplift, and connect.

Let’s make a difference—one note at a time. Secure your ticket now and be part of this meaningful celebration!

Katalyst: Every decade or so a new band comes to the forefront and changes the course of music, this decade is no exception and sees the rise of one of the most talented, diverse collectives of musicians, writers, composers and producers otherwise known as Katalyst. The brainchild of world-renowned drummer/composer/ producer Greg Paul, this eight- piece ensemble hailing from Inglewood, CA showcases an eclectic mix of experimental contemporary jazz. The collective comprises of pianist Brandon Cordoba, saxophonist David Otis, Grammy- award winning trombonist Jonah Levine, keyboard/pianist Brian Hargrove, percussionist Ahmad DuBose – Dawson, upright bassist Corbin Jones, bass guitarist Marlon Spears and Katalyst founder and drummer Greg Paul. In 2020 during the height of the pandemic, Katalyst released their critically acclaimed debut album entitled “Nine Lives” a free-spirited instrumental jazz album that truly encapsulates the pulse of Los Angeles. Conceived during impromptu Sunday Jam Sessions at their home base in Inglewood, the title is personal as it documents the lives and fusion of these nine renaissance men, equally yoked through 10 tracks that transport you on musical journey unlike any other.

Dwight Trible is an American jazz singer, living in Los Angeles. He has made albums in collaboration with Carlos Gabriel NiñoJohn Beasley, and Matthew Halsall, releasing them on Ninja Tune and Gondwana Records. He was an original member of Pure Essence.”Trible has been forging his particular slant on spiritual-modal jazz for decades, delivering his love-is-the-answer message with clear diction, rich tones and a beautifully controlled vibrato. Trible’s sonic range adds a dash of Isaac Hayes gravel to the imperious sonorities of Barry White, and, like them, he steeps his voice in the inflections of gospel-soul and the blues. But, having worked with the likes of Pharaoh Sanders and Charles Lloyd, he is equally in control of the nuances and demands of jazz.”Andrew Gilbert wrote in JazzTimes that “few musicians have done more to cultivate the L.A. [jazz] scene over the past four decades” than Trible
