“I was completely enchanted by the way she sings”
Monica Salmaso

“Lívia Nestrovski is by far one of the greatest voices of her generation. She is amazing!”
Arrigo Barnabé

Vera’s Heartbeat presents the magnificent Brazilian duo Lívia Nestrovski and Fred Ferreira featuring the Eco Project for the first time in Los Angeles on Friday, September 30th, 8pm, at 2220 Arts + Archives (2220 Beverly Blvd, Los Angeles, 90057).

Specially for this show, Livia and Fred will be joined by the Eco Project, formed by Pianist, synthesist and musical producer Ivo Senra and drummer, percussionist and composer, Lúcio Vieira. The Eco Project creates uncanny bridges between subverted Brazilian folk, jazz, and electronic vanguard in an unusual and innovative synths and drums duo.

Classical and modern, popular and contemporary, from Brazil and the World, as much experimental as it is welcoming, the ride outlined by Lívia and Fred is subtle, unexpected, and inspired. Through songs by Kurt Weill, Zé Miguel Wisnik, Benjamin Britten, Arrigo Barnabé, Maurice Ravel, Milton Nascimento and music from a new generation of composers, the duo creates narratives and conducts affects. Six years after their album debut, after touring numerous countries and all regions of Brazil, they are working on their second album, which flirts with the world of electronics and synthesized sounds.

In between sets, the 30 South food truck will be providing delicious Brazilian hand-made pastéis (kinda like a Brazilian empanada!). We hope to see you there!

Lívia has released the albums DUO, with Fred Ferreira, Pós Você e Eu, with Arthur Nestrovski, and De Nada Mais a Algo Além, with avant-guarde composers Luiz Tatit and Arrigo Barnabé. As a soloist, she has been at the forefront of orchestras such as Jazz Sinfônica, at Sala São Paulo, University of Illinois Concert Jazz Big Band, in the USA, and Petrobras Symphony Orchestra, at Theatro Municipal do Rio de Janeiro. Bachelor in Popular Music at UNICAMP and Master’ in Musicology at UniRio, she was nominated for Prêmio da Música Brasileira 2016 and winner of the Music Pro Awards 2019 as Best Singer.

Fred holds two degrees from Campinas State University: one in Music Composition and the other in Viola, aside from being a professional guitar player since his teenage years. He works as an arranger, musical diretor, soundtrack composer and instrumentalist, both in the popular and classical fields, and in the past few years, has performed in aproximately 20 countries amongs Europe, Asia, the Middle East, South and North America. He was a nominee of the Music Pro Awards 2019 for Best Arranger and Best Music Producer

Pianist, synthesist and musical producer Ivo Senra won the 23rd Brazilian Music Award in the Electronic Music category. Among his on stage and in studio collaborations are Yamandú Costa, Arthur Maia, Nicolas Krassik, Jorge Aragão, Fernanda Abreu, Leo Gandelman, Itaal Shurr, Gabriel o Pensador, Seu Jorge and many others. His acknowledgement as a leading music producer in Brazilian contemporary music has led him be featured as guest producer in Elba Ramalho’s last album.

Amazon born Lúcio Vieira began to play drumset 12 and has never been one to sit still. Raised by a musician father, Lucio developed a keen sense of the art form as a child, starting his career as a symphonic percussionist at the Amazon Philharmonic. From an early age, he was exposed to classical music, 80’s/90’s rock & soul, jazz, Brazilian music and the pop world of the 1990’s. Such eclecticism would later come to shape his career and he became one of the most sought after musicians, being invited to tour and record with artist such Larry Coryell, Zélia Duncan, Leny Andrade, Ney Conceição, Cliff Korman, Allen Hinds, and Frank Gambale.
