An absolute fan favorite returns to New York City for the first time in some years as MeanRed welcomes Lunice to HOLO on Saturday, February 4. Playing in the round with audiences on all sides for an up-close and intimate experience – the Montreal native and 1/2 of TNGHT, alongside Hudson Mowahawke, has been serving up his groundbreaking interpretation of hip-hop-informed dance music since the late 00s. Some may even say he is one of the founders of the hip-hop subgenre we all too frequently know as “trap” today.

Having received fame with his early LuckyMe imprint releases, Lunice immediately showed his production prowess for refined yet highly detailed studio work. This work took on a new form in 2012 with the TNGHT project. Release via Warp Records, the self-titled project was a tremendous success, opening up an entirely new avenue of audience and inspiration for the Canadian, including collabs with such artists as Lil Wayne, Flying Lotus, and others. Since TNGHT has dropped a follow-up Ep (2019), as well-received as their first.

But something of renaissance man means Lunice is not just TNGHT or a solo DJ. He has designed experimental performances for Cirque de Soleil, embarked on supporting Stadium tour slots for the likes of Madonna, has released a full-length album CCCLX (360), and somehow found time to collaborate with the likes of Azealia Banks, The xx, Diplo, and Danny Brown.

A force behind the decks and in the studio, Lunice embodies an infectious energy and enthusiasm that has been him both a fan and artist favorite the world over. And joining Lunice at HOLO will be two more infectious personalities of New York City nightlife, Stonie Blue (Believe in Yours Do It Yourself Records) and The Whooligan (Room Service International), social-minded sonic renaissance men in their own rights.
