(New York, NY) – Natalia Clavier (Thievery Corporation, The Echocentrics, VOXMANA) returns to the legendary Joe’s Pub at the Public Theater to debut TELENOVELA, her most personal, theatrical and vulnerable solo show to date. TELENOVELA draws from a lifetime of art, including musical performances, storytelling, improvisations and comedic relief.
“I have been wanting to combine improvised music with storytelling and song performance for a while. Most people do not know I am an actor who hasn’t worked in a long time mostly because of fear of auditioning. If the recent pandemic taught me something, is that tomorrow is not granted and that a YOLO perspective in life is how I want to continue to exist. So I decided to lean in the fear and walk the talk. In this one-woman show, I also want to elevate my Latina culture through song and conversation with the audience. This show feels to me like an exciting and terrifying experiment. It’s like I am saying “Hey all! Would you like to come see me get butt naked on stage while I sing for you?” – Natalia Clavier
TELENOVELA promises to take the audience on an exciting journey of music and story that culminates in a captivating theatrical experience. With audience participation, she effortlessly blends the spontaneity of improvisation with unfiltered storytelling. In addition, drawing from her vast published catalog, Natalia performs songs from her most recent music collabs with Grammy-winning Adrian Quesada (Black Pumas) and Godfather of Downtempo Eric Hilton (Thievery Corporation)!
With each story and melody, Clavier navigates the intricacies of human emotion, inviting her audience on a journey through the melodramatic landscapes of Latin soap opera culture. With a masterful blend of vocal prowess and heartfelt narrative, Natalia’s show is set to be an unforgettable experience.
