Once a month from October through December, No.9 Live welcomes Chris Rob for a three-part live music residency an evolving series where groove meets improvisation, and every night tells a new story.

A pianist, vocalist, and producer whose career bridges the worlds of R&B, jazz, and hip-hop, Chris Rob has shared the stage with legends like Stevie Wonder, Roberta Flack, and John Legend. His performances are rich with soul and spontaneity a masterclass in musical connection.

Joining him this season are Maxx Spinelli on bass and Jaylen Petinaud on drums. Maxx, an artist hailing from New Haven, CT, is a multi-instrumentalist whose sound spans genres and sensibilities. He’s collaborated with Doobie Powell, Reginald Chapman & The Chaphouse Band, and Third Reprise, and his production and composition can be heard on his new single with Amanda Barise, ComeTakeMyHeart, where he performs both vocals and all instrumentation. With multiple releases on the horizon, Maxx can often be found performing across NYC’s venues and churches, blending groove, soul, and sincerity in every set.

Jaylen Petinaud is a Brooklyn-born drummer and composer whose bold, expressive style has made him one of the most in-demand musicians of his generation. He’s performed and recorded with Herbie Hancock, Kenny Garrett, Theo Croker, and Kenny Washington, and contributed to Broadway productions including the Tony-nominated For Colored Girls Who Have Considered Suicide / When the Rainbow is Enuf and The Harder They Come. His credits include appearances on Good Morning America, The View, SiriusXM, PBS, and The Last O.G., as well as a featured performance in An Orchestral Tribute to The Notorious B.I.G. at Lincoln Center..

For this fall series, expect lush harmonies, deep grooves, and sparks of improvisation as some of New York’s finest join Chris, Maxx, and Brian in conversation through sound.

DJ Monday Blue will be setting the mood before and after the live set with a mix of soulful, feel-good tunes.
