Barcelona-born guitarist and composer Oscar Peñas, a prominent figure on the international jazz scene, takes the stage at Dizzy’s Club. Having settled in New York City 18 years ago, Peñas has crafted a distinctive sound that merges jazz with folk and classical influences. Renowned for his innovative use of instrumentation, Peñas returns to his acoustic roots after a decade of exploring electric guitar. This performance features his new quartet, including Uri Caine on piano and Corentin LeHir on upright bass. Peñas will showcase material from his latest album, Chicken or Pasta (2023), which includes collaborations with Mike Stern and Greg Leisz, as well as pieces from his 2022 suite, Almadraba, which debuted at the BAM Next Wave Festival.
