Peter Varnado is an experienced drummer and educator based in New Orleans. Peter honed his skills across various genres, including jazz, blues, r&b, gospel, and funk. He is a sought-after drummer in the New Orleans music scene; performing regularly at local festivals with some of the biggest names in the industry. In addition to his performance career, he serves as the Director of Applied Music for Black American Music (BAM) at Tulane University, where he imparts his extensive knowledge to the next generation of musicians.

Peter has shared the stage with jazz luminaries Nicholas Payton, Chief Xian aTunde Adjuah (formerly Christian Scott), and Ellis Marsalis. His dynamic drumming has also supported performances by the Masakowski Family Band, Jason Marsalis, Delfeayo Marsalis, and Stephanie Jordan. Beyond these collaborations, Varnado is a regular performer with the Preservation Hall Jazz Band, the Oscar Rossignoli Trio, the Matt Booth Quintet, the Ryan Hanseler Trio, and the Nayo Jones Experience, showcasing his adaptability and commitment to the rich musical legacy  of New Orleans.
