Exploring colliding waves of musical expression, Picture a Wave brings together artists drawn from classical and experimental music’s cutting edges to a raw Brooklyn warehouse for two nights of exploratory sounds.
Night 002 features a headlining performance by Juan Atkins and Moritz von Oswald presenting Borderland, which has until now been reserved for prestigious festivals such as Berlin Atonal and Movement. Subtext artist UCC Harlo brings her improvisatory fusion of electronics, classical music, her own vocals, and modern composition for an uncommon live appearance. Celebrating 11 years of accomplishment in NYC & Berlin’s underground, Voodoo Down Records’ L’estasi Dell’oro and N’conduit present a live modular synthesizer performance.
Juan Atkins and Moritz von Oswald are foundational in electronic music, each with 30+ years of boundary-pushing music behind them. Whether it’s Juan’s legendary work as Cybotron, Model 500, and Infiniti, or Moritz’s equally era-defining work as Basic Channel leading into Rhythm & Sound, neither show signs of slowing down. They’re also collaborators from the earliest days of their acquaintance, dating back to 1992. Previously reserved for prestigious festivals like Detroit’s Movement and Atonal in Berlin, this appearance marks a rare US date and the NYC live debut of the project, in a raw warehouse setting that recalls the authentic origins of their solo works.
