ABOUT THE ARTISTS:

ROC MARCIANO: An MC and producer from New York City’s tradition-rich Long Island, Roc Marciano is well-respected for his moody, claustrophobic beats and stream-of-consciousness, heavily stylized lyrics. Briefly affiliated with Flipmode Squad early in his career, he formed the short-lived crew the U.N., appearing on Pete Rock’s Petestrumentals in the early 2000s before going solo, earning massive acclaim for his self-produced 2010 full-length Marcberg. Collaborating with rappers and producers like Q-Tip, Ka, Action Bronson, and Busta Rhymes – subsequent releases such as 2013’s Marci Beaucoup and 2018’s RR2: The Bitter Dose featured more experimental production as well as sharper lyricism. Numerous collaborations appeared during the early 2020s, including 2022’s The Elephant Man’s Bones, produced by the Alchemist, and 2023’s Nothing Bigger Than the Program with Jay Worthy. A second Alchemist collaboration, The Skeleton Key, arrived in 2024.

LARGE PROFESSOR: Widely known for his initial work as a producer and MC with the rap group Main Source (Big Noyd, AZ, and Styles P), Large Professor is full-time producer working with such acts as Big Daddy Kane and A Tribe Called Quest. Professor originally became involved in rap when he won a tryout held by Main Source members K-Cut and Sir Scratch in 1989. Contributing significantly to the creative direction of the group, Professor eventually broke with Main Source over creative differences. He then lent his hand to albums by some of rap’s biggest names, including Eric B. & Rakim, Nas, and Pete Rock & C.L. Smooth. For his full-length solo debut, 2002’s 1st Class, Large Professor called in favors from friends including Nas, Q-Tip, and Busta Rhymes.
