Join Sweat Records & Black Miami-Dade for a sonic and storytelling experience where we pull from the bins and share the history of the legendary Josephine Baker and her time in Miami circa 1951—from Miami Beach to Liberty City. Join Black Miami-Dade’s founder and historian Nadege Green for an illuminating look at how Josephine Baker flourished as a participant of the Harlem Renaissance and beyond.
2025 marks the 100th anniversary of the Harlem Renaissance, a Black cultural rebirth and blooming of Black art—literature, dance, visual arts and of course, music. This is the first in a 3-part musical/history series on the Harlem Renaissance’s impact and history in Miami.
Huge thanks to the Knight Foundation for their support of this series!
