Analog Master Sessions is a deep listening series curated by Dj Le Spam, presenting some of the most unique studio recordings on professional studio format analog tape machines. 1/4″ and 1/2″ inch tape running at 15 or 30 inches per second were the most common formats for LP mastering from the 1950s until the early 2000s. They represent the highest quality of analog recording and surpass what is possible to achieve with a vinyl record. I’d like to share this listening experience outside of the recording studio.

To kick off the series we are celebrating the 50th anniversary of Eddie Palmieri ‘s LP Sun of Latin Music. Recorded at Electric Lady studios NYC during the summer of 1974, it features one of Palmieri’s greatest lineups and introduced 17 year old singer Lalo Rodriguez to the world. Produced by Harvey Averne and mixed by Irv Greenbaum, it won the first ever Grammy award in newly created Latin category in 1975.
