After scoring a record deal off a freestyle atop afro-pop singer D’Prince’s track “Gucci Gang,” Rema burst onto the Afropop scene last year. The 19-year-old Nigerian star made his mark in 2019 with his hits “Dumebi” and “Iron Man,” which found its way to President Barack Obama’s summer playlist. He’s spent much of 2020 releasing a steady stream of singles, poised for world domination. He’s joined by his fellow countryman Patoranking, an international Afro-dancehall artist whose unique blend of the sounds of Kingston and Lagos has led him to tours with Lauryn Hill, collaborations with Major Lazer and WizKid, and even a stint as a judge on The Voice Nigeria, as well as the American violinist-singer-songwriter Sudan Archives, whose soulful compositions break new ground and defy genre.
