Big Sean held an exclusive listening session for his debut album, Finally Famous, on Tuesday. The MC’s oft-delayed album is finally set to arrive in stores June 28 via G.O.O.D. Music/ Def Jam, and a star-studded group gathered to celebrate and get a first listen.

The event was held at the swanky Highline Room at the Standard Hotel, with assembled celebs including Swizz Beatz, DJ Khaled, New York radio personalities DJ Enuff and Angie Martinez and, eventually, G.O.O.D. Music head honcho Kanye West.

With introductions out of the way, Big Sean took to the stage, where he sat in a white chair with a projection screen to his rear. While expressing thanks for all of the support he has received from family, friends and his record label, the Detroit rapper became teary-eyed. "I’m not no bitch or nothing, man; this is a real moment," an emotional Sean said as the crowd of VIPs, music journalists and industry pros cheered him on.

Sean went on to play Finally Famous, in its entirety, rapping along to the tracks while video images played on the screen behind him. Titles like "Marvin & Chardonnay," featuring Kanye West and Roscoe Dash; "Dance (A$$)"; and "Live This Life," featuring The-Dream, elicited good feedback from the crowd. Renowned Chicago beatsmith No ID, whom Kanye West considers his mentor, produced the majority ofFinally Famous. Other guests on the album include Wiz Khalifa and Chiddy Bang (on a song called "High"), as well as Dwele, Pharrell, Lupe Fiasco and John Legend.

At the end of the listening session, a tardy Kanye West ("I apologize I was a little bit late, I had a throne to watch," he joked) got onstage and heaped praise on his G.O.O.D. Music protégé.

"I believe Sean’s story is one of the most amazing ever, ’cause he literally got signed off a freestyle," said Yeezy, who was wearing a Dallas Mavericks cap. "To now, and I say it all the time, having the potential to be one of the biggest artists in the world. I feel like he can be like what Beyoncé is to R&B, that he can be that to rap music. As far as G.O.O.D. Music go, the swag is just all the way up, this is what we do to the fullest!"

23-year old Sean Anderson started rapping as a 12-year old at the progressive Waldorf School in Detroit.  In high school, he and a friend formed a duo, then entered and won the “Friday Night Cipher” MC contest at hip-hop radio giant Hot 102.7.  The win earned them a spot to rap live on-air every Friday night for nearly a year.  It was on one of those Friday nights around 2005 that Sean encountered Kanye West(back in the Late Registration era) who agreed to hear the teenager’s freestyle.  It was the contact of a lifetime, which led to Sean’s signing with G.O.O.D. Music in late 2007, and his subsequent signing to Def Jam in 2008.

“I remember in the eighth grade I told myself, man I’m going to be signed to Def Jam,” says Sean.  “I always put it out into the universe and I think it was written for me.  I was meant to inspire people, I was meant to make music.  There’s been so many nights where instead of going out I’ve had to work and was depressed so I feel like I deserve this.  This is what I was meant to do.”

Big Sean ’s career has gone into overdrive since October 2010, when he appeared on the BET Awards telecast, after earning “New Joint” status at 106 & Park two months earlier.  Also in October, his most recent G.O.O.D. Music mixtape was issued, Finally Famous Vol. 3: BIG, hosted by Don Cannon.  BIG, which has received over 650,000 downloads to date, spun off a slew of video clips including “What U Doin (Bullshitting)” (over 1 million views on #1 music site VEVO), “Supa Dupa Lemonade” (over 1.5 million views on YouTube), “Too Fake” (featuring Chiddy Bang, over 1.3 million views on YouTube), “Ambiguous” (featuring Mike Posner), and “Memories” (released two weeks ago on Complex.com). Sean was also featured on 5 tracks off of Kanye West’s My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy Recording Sessions; 4 of which were part of the G.O.O.D Friday Campaign and the 5th “See Me Now” is featured as a bonus track on the album.
