Journey through the soul of jazz with Brooklyn-born singer, songwriter, flautist, producer & bandleader Melanie Charles, as she graces the Jazz Is Dead stage with Ignabu & Paul Wilson Baeon.
Melanie Charles is a genre-bending artist reimagining jazz through a modern, soulful lens. Born in Brooklyn, NY with Haitian roots, she’s a singer, flutist, producer & activist known for “Y’all Don’t (Really) Care About Black Women”, a bold tribute to Black women in jazz. From NPR’s Tiny Desk to global stages, she fuses jazz, soul, and experimental sounds while leading her “Make Jazz Trill Again” movement to keep the culture fresh & real.
