Fresh off winning Best DJ Set of 2024, Ron Trent proves once again why he remains a driving force in dance music, seamlessly blending deep, soulful vibrations with his unparalleled production prowess.

“Just like any remix I approach, I study the song and its original composition thoroughly. Since I was given a choice from the Soul II Soul catalog, I had already lived ‘A Dreams a Dream’ as it was definitely one of my favorites when it came out.
Victoria Wilson James’ epic voice as the feature with that Soul II Soul foundational touch was and still is fresh. My thing is always to kueep the integrity of the composition yet elevate it into another listening realm. Most times this requires reproduction.
Once I laid down a rhythm which included drum programming and live percussion, I was able to visualize a new vocal arrangement based on the new tempo. I set forth to make a new version that was a credit to the spirit of the original composition, yet able to stand on its own 27 years later. After adding new chords and Keyboard arrangements, I called my live string arrangements guy Dorian Chea, (who I have worked with for over 15 years on various special projects) to give that extra avant-garde touch which is synonymous with Soul II Soul’s grace.”
This remix is a tribute to the power of the original composition yet elevating into a new room of sound. Both sentimental and radiant.
