?uestlove Announces Relaunch Of Okayplayer Records With New Releases from Danny! & Young Guru

The secret is out. Okayplayer Records is officially back in business!

The announcement came early Tuesday morning from ?uestlove that the label, dormant since the release of 2004’s True Notes Vol. 1 compilation, will return as a digital-only label with new releases from Atlanta based emcee/producer Danny! and world renowned studio wizard and producer Young Guru.

“I’ve been waiting years for the right moment to re-launch the label and I’m eager to kick things off with Danny!” says ?uestlove.

Okayplayer President, Daniel Petruzzi adds, “This provides another avenue for our brand to further establish what we stand for by aligning ourselves with artists and projects that speak to our core values. Not only does Danny!’s sound and lyrical content match our aesthetic, but his DIY approach to production, promotion, artwork, and branding make him an ideal candidate to partner with.”

Danny!’s long-awaited Payback LP will drop on September 25th followed by Young Guru’s all-instrumental breakbeat LP, Essentials Vol. 1, on October 9th.
