About Against the Current:

Breathing new life into his musical past, the project’s sound is heavily influenced by his history; from the blues music he was raised on and the hip-hop he produced as a member of Jurassic 5, to the urban-Latin music he created with Ozomatli, along with his love for performing live.  Against The Current will be a 5EP installment featuring a fusion of these genres, highlighted by Chali’s trademark spitfire rhymes. In addition to the music, Chali is creating a Coffee Table Art Book to showcase the journey behind all of his experiences. In 2013 Chali found himself rather unexpectedly reuniting with some old friends, and back by popular demand, after a seven-year hiatus, Jurassic 5 hit some of the biggest stages on the planet last summer. The group kicked off the reunion at the Coachella Music and Arts Festival in April and continued to go on a tour that landed them in front of more than a million elated concertgoers by the time fall came around. In 2014 the victory lap continues and Chali will ride the J5 wave around the Pacific Rim during the entire month of March before returning to Europe in June for a tour that blends festival gigs and headline club performances. More touring plans to be announced soon. For up-to-date information on Jurassic 5 including full concert calendar visit:

In support of the EP, Chali showcased his art and performed new music in Salt Lake City on Feb 27th
