Common’s Chicago Book Tour 9/19 & 9/20
New York Times reporter Jon Caramanica will be holding a talk with Common on Monday, September 19th (6-8:30PM) at the South Shore Cultural Center (7059 South Shore Drive.) The talk will explore Common’s life work as a hip-hop artist, actor and activist.
TimesTalks goes to Chicago for this conversation with the Grammy award-winning hip hop recording artist, actor and activist in his own hometown. Common, born Lonnie Rashid Lynn, talks with New York Times music critic Jon Caramanica about his life and work, and his new no-holds-barred memoir, “One Day It’ll All Make Sense.” Common will sign copies of his book, which chronicles his journey from his childhood on the South Side to superstardom to his discovery of what it means to be a man.
