About

1978 Events was born out of Selectress Iriela’s record collection orbiting this magical year, sure enough on the back of her “Special Selections,” in small print would be the year: 1978 – no matter the genre. This epicenter of timeless sound reverberates to present day music, sparking 1978 to launch in 2014 in Brooklyn featuring guests ranging from Sal P (Liquid Liquid) to Natasha Diggs and BreakBeat Lou: we welcome you to 1978 – that sweet spot where timeless music and club culture intersect on the dancefloor!

Jovonn, Brooklyn born, Queens livin’ and globally respected originator of his signature soul-filled keys-laden house music flavor is a timeless music beacon! Jovonn has been active in the music scene for well over 30 years. He is a keyboard player, a song writer, vocalist and producer dating back to his first label Goldtone. Jovonn exploded onto the house scene in 1991 with his second release, “Turn and Runaway” on Warner Bros. Records, which reached number 10 on Billboard and catapulted Jovonn to the world stage.
