Donald Harrison Jr. is a saxophonist, composer and Black Masking Indian known as Big Chief of the Congo Square Nation. Harrison has been named “one of the most important musicians of the new millennium” by CBS Sunday Morning. He is the originator of the Nouveau Swing style, which merges jazz with modern R&B, New Orleans second-line music,and hip-hop. He was named one of the 2022 NEA Jazz Masters, the highest Jazz honor in the United States.
