Hailing from Sunny San Diego., Elise Trouw is a multi-instrumentalist, songwriter, and social media sensation. With an undefinable sound, traversing the spaces between pop and jazz to alternative, Trouw’s musical skills are only matched by her dynamic individuality. With a piano background, Trouw’s drumming caught the eye of the masses and industry alike. Her debut album ‘Unraveling’ (2017), saw Trouw present a self-released 10-song long-player, which featured the (then) teenager on drums, vocals, guitar, piano, and bass. Across the record, her seminal influences like Radiohead, The Police, Adele, and John Mayer can be felt. But outside of her studio work, Trouw’s use of live looping has brought her entire new fanbases and artistic influence. Since, she has gone on the perform way outside of the social media space, including a debut live TV performance on Jimmy Kimmel Live. Since that set, Trouw has gone on to open for Incubus and release a Metallica-honoring version of ‘Enter Sandman’ with none other than drum-god Travis Barker. In 2022, Trouw released an instantly matured sound with her dual singles, ‘Losing Sleep’ and ‘Obsession’. The former is a percussion-driven nu-pop anthem, while the latter showcases her emotional songwriting. In 2023, Losing Sleep also saves as the name of her most extensive US tour to date. On March 19, MeanRed will welcome Trouw to Detroit’s Marble Bar for a one-of-a-kind performance of live looping and musical surprises.
