06:00 PM - 10:00 pm

Few groups can ignite a dance floor like Oro Sólido. Led by Dominican hitmaker Raúl Acosta, they’ve been delivering high-octane merengue anthems for over two decades, blending infectious rhythm with a playful urban edge. Their timeless hit “El Beeper” is a cultural classic—heard at virtually every quinceañera, backyard party, and club night from the Bronx to Boyle Heights. It’s more than a song; it’s a rite of passage. For the Grand Performances season finale, Oro Sólido turns California Plaza into a full-blown merengue throwdown. Expect sweat, smiles, and dancing from start to finish.

Oro Sólido
Led by “El Presidente” Raul Acosta

Formed in 1994 by Dominican-American musician Raul Acosta, Oro Sólido quickly rose to fame in the Latin music world with its infectious merengue hits. Known for tracks like “La Tanguita Roja,” “Maria se Fue,” and “Una Nalgadita,” the group became a global sensation, breaking into English-language media and radio—a rare feat for merengue at the time.

Acosta, nicknamed “El Presidente,” brought a dynamic stage presence and deep musical experience to the project. Under his leadership, Oro Sólido earned multiple awards (Premios Lo Nuestro, ACE, Estrella) and made history as the first merengue band to perform on Fox 5 News NY and the Jerry Lewis Telethon.

The band has graced iconic venues like Madison Square Garden, Mexico City’s Zócalo, and the New Jersey Meadowlands, and has shared the stage with legends including Celia Cruz, Marc Anthony, and The Temptations. Oro Sólido even performed at President George W. Bush’s second inauguration, solidifying their place as pioneers in Latin music history.
