For the Centennial Celebration’s final night, a group of stellar instrumentalists and fusion-era Miles Davis alumni come together as Miles Electric, a multi-generational band specializing in the wired-up and funky music Davis created from the late 1960s to the ‘80s on albums including Bitches Brew and You’re Under Arrest.

Led by the legendary trumpeter’s nephew and drummer Vincent Wilburn, Jr., the group features many of the commanding musicians Davis tapped for his various jazz-rock ensembles, including guitarist DeWayne “Blackbyrd” McKnight — a veteran of the Davis and Herbie Hancock bands, Davis collaborator, keyboardist, and musical director Robert Irving III, bass great Darryl Jones, known for his lengthy collaborations with Miles, Sting, and currently the Rolling Stones, and percussionist Munyungo Jackson, a veteran of multiple Miles Davis tours and recordings from the late 80s and early 90s.

Trumpeter Keyon Harrold is among the finest instrumentalists in jazz and has a deep connection to the music of Miles, providing the trumpet work for the soundtrack of actor/director Don Cheadle’s Miles Davis tribute film Miles Ahead.

The legendary DJ Logic completes the band — a producer largely credited with introducing jazz into the mainstream hip-hop scene.

The Miles Electric Band’s Legacy Recordings all-star debut album, That You Not Dare to Forget, was released in 2023.
