Maritri Garrett

Maritri is an independent artist with a diverse musical background. She is an experienced composer, multi instrumentalist, singer, voice over artist , educator and sound healer. Her songs tell of life, love and loss through the voice of someone who has experienced the best and worst life has to offer. Her words tell the truth and offer healing for herself and anyone who hears them.

She is a highly respected educator, multi instrumentalist (piano, guitar, bass , cello and percussion) she holds a BA in biology from Fisk university as well as a BS in composition and an MFA in jazz studies from Howard university. As a composer, she has composed music for dance, theater, The Soulfolk Experience and her solo projects. She has sung back up for Barbara Streisand and Michael Amante, opened for Gladys Knight,, the five blind boys of Alabama, the Pharcyde, the Indigo Girls, Ani diFranco, Nona Hendryx and shared stages with Patti LaBelle, Valerie Simpson and Meshell Ndege Ocello to name a few.Maritri is a versatile independent artist who comes with a diverse musical background. She has rich experience in composing, singing, playing multiple instruments, doing voice overs, educating, and sound healing. Her songs reflect on life, love, and loss – the good and the bad – in a way that is both honest and healing for herself as well as her listeners.

Maritri is highly respected in the music industry as an educator and multi-instrumentalist. She is trained in playing several instruments such as piano, guitar, bass, cello, and percussion. She holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Biology from Fisk University, a Bachelor of Science degree in Composition, and a Master of Fine Arts degree in Jazz Studies from Howard University.

As a composer, Maritri has composed music for various genres including dance, theater, apps, and her solo projects. She has also worked as a backing vocalist for Barbara Streisand and Michael Amante. Maritri has opened for several renowned artists such as Gladys Knight, the Five Blind Boys of Alabama, the Pharcyde, and the Indigo Girls. She has shared stages with Patti LaBelle, Valerie Simpson, and Meshell Ndege Ocello, among others.
