Love, Peace & Spades is a monthly game night for anyone looking for a fun space to kick it and bond over classic Black family games such as Bid Whist, Uno, Tunk/Tonk, Dominoes, and, of course, Spades—and if you need lessons, don’t worry, we got you!

This month marks our SECOND ANNUAL BLACK WOMEN’S APPRECIATION GAME NIGHT.

We will be honoring the efforts and talents of two members of our Black family who have shown up and shown out for our community in major ways.

Allow us to salute: Addis Daniel and Imani “Ico” Oniya.

Addis Daniel: With her heart firmly pointed to the sky and her intentions rooted in the soil of South Central, Daniel has created, Nü Africa, an inclusive place where Black people of all backgrounds could “connect, release, and be free.” Whether it is promoting diversity as part of Mandala Studios LA or as a co-creator of the East African-infused party, Motherland Sounds, she has poured graciously into her friends, family, and neighborhood, while paying homage to the birthplace of it all, Mama Africa.

Imani “Ico” Oniya: A natural-born creative, Ico was an excellent student of Black history and culture. The architect behind Soul Cypher Collective, an event management company out of Long Beach, California, Oniya specializes in alchemizing her unique perspective and imagination into original programming centered on arts, culture, and entertainment. Focused on empowering people and artists with love and light, and through community partnerships, Oniya’s advocacy is prime to enrich the importance of mental health awareness and resources.

Make sure you come hungry—the menu is delicioso! Come early—it’s Happy Hour! And bring friends or make some—it’s game night!
