Watch Our Step 005 is almost upon us – Sunday June 26th at The Ramp on the San Francisco Bay. We’re excited to share another thoughtful lineup showcasing local legends. Might be the only SF spot in late June with the sun shining, join us for another boogie on the bay!

Dj Said (fatsoulsrecords.com) For over a decade now, DJ Said of Fatsouls Records has successfully shown his dedication to music through his extraordinary events, music production and DJ skills. He has brought soulful East Coast-meets-Africa brand of percussion-based deep house to a distinct slice of the underground. Said has spun at his Atmosfere events and many other clubs around the world alongside the likes of Francois K, Joe Claussell, Danny Krivit, Tony Allen & Afrobeat 2000, Ron Trent, Kerri Chandler, Ron Trent, King Britt, Kenny Carpenter, Dennis Ferrer, Jerome Sydenham, Miguel Migs and countless others. His main influence is derived from Afrobeat, Highlife Jazz, Juju, and other music from his Yoruba root and numerous global music which he absorbed during his formative years.

RaSoul (soundcloud.com/dj-rasoul) With a predilection for the deepest and funkiest of deep funky house, DJ Rasoul (real name Guy Nado) has done much to put the Bay Area on the map as a hip and happening place. Originally from the Ivory Coast in West Africa, he moved to the States as a young boy in 1975. Rasoul dabbled in all sorts of music as a teenager but became serious about house after hooking up with San Francisco’s pioneering 3rd Floor Productions team in 1990. Amongst others, the group included such noteworthy characters as DJs Digit — who went on to set up the famous BPM Records label — and EFX. Throughout the early ’90s, Rasoul released his own records and remixed for others under a variety of monikers including the Mad African and Dredman. Then, following a brief stint in London working mostly as a DJ, he returned home in 1996 to again concentrate on production work. Over the next few years, Rasoul did no harm to his reputation by working with some of America’s most respected underground dance labels — Large, 83 West, and Guidance. During this period, his Soul Searching series of albums released on Large proved especially popular.

Nina Sol (soundcloud.com/djninasol) Nina Sol, a nod to her Afro-Latina heritage & warm and sunshiny disposition, delivers a genre-bending soulful sound that resonates with audiences locally and across the globe. A vinyl enthusiast that traverses time and texture, Nina’s insatiable curiosity for music discovering keeps her sets fresh and unexpected. Currently based in Oakland, Nina holds monthly residencies at Constellations, a party dedicated to past and present artists born under the zodiac sign of the month, and Elements throwing down underground dance music alongside soulful house DJ veteran, Patrick Wilson. She has played with artists including DJ Spinna, Solange, Rich Medina, Natasha Diggs, Pete Rock, Moodymann, Jose James, Bugz in the Attic, and many others. Sol has contributed to music sites such as Music is My Sanctuary and mainstay parties namely thePeople, Soul in the Horn, Jump N Funk, Makossa Brooklyn, Motown on Mondays, & Black Weirdo. Nina Sol brings a profound energy to dance floors while spreading messages of justice, freedom, and love.
