Move Forward Music and Fusicology Join Forces to launch Move Forward Touring

Move Forward Music and Fusicology have joined forces to launch a new venture Move Forward Touring, a new niche talent agency that will specialize in Hip-Hop, Soul and Dance music, and will book tours internationally, with offices in New York, Los Angeles and London. Move Forward Touring’s flagship clients will include new generation rap acts Pac Div and Tanya Morgan, producer and MPC wizard Exile, R&B icon Bilal, and dance music maven, DJ Rich Medina.

Alex Damashek, Executive Director of Move Forward Music, and Asya Shein, CEO of Fusicology, bring to the table a combined 20 years of industry experience in talent booking, marketing and artist management, and the pair sees themselves as the perfect team. “We wanted to approach this venture as more than just a booking agency,” says Damashek. “We are building this business as a full-service touring company that will go beyond mere talent booking, offering marketing and PR for events, help with tour planning and budgeting and even tour management.” Fusicology, an online music marketing company with hubs in over 20 US markets, will serve as the promotional sponsor for events booked by the company and furthermore will offer artists the opportunity to expose their music to its database of over 100,000 top tastemakers nationwide.

Fusicology’s CEO Asya Shein concurs that “It’s a natural progression for Fusicology as the company originated from my experience and tenure as an artist representative for over a decade running my agency Mir Media prior to Fusicology’s expansion. We are looking forward to working with Move Forward Music to do just that.”

Move Forward Touring is currently accepting offers for the roster below, with more artists to be added shortly!

Pac Div

Pac Div has been putting its own stamp on West Coast hip-hop for the better half of a decade. With a sound more akin to Souls of Mischief than Ice Cube, the Los Angeles-based trio has been bearing the torch for golden-era hip-hop since dropping 2006’s _ Blend Tape_, followed by Church League Champions, in 2009. After Rolling Stone, Billboard, Complex, and XXL lauded Pac Div as vanguards of the “new West Coast,” the trio signed to Universal/Motown and have since collaborated with Pharrell Williams, Swizz Beats and even Diddy, on their debut album, Grown Kids Syndrome, coming out October 12th.

Pac Div toured nationally with Q-Tip in 2008 and Asher Roth and Kid Cudi in 2009, but will embark on its first headlining tour this September.

Bilal

Bilal is considered by many to be an icon in the world of neo-soul, but he would define his “genre-blending music” as more of a fusion of funk, rock and jazz. Bilal became an institution in Urban culture after his critically-acclaimed debut, First Born Second, was released in 2001. He has collaborated with legends such as The Roots, Dr. Dre, Common, and Erykah Badu, and despite label politics preventing an official follow up album, has toured around the world for the past decade and built a loyal cult fanbase.

Bilal is finally putting out his long-anticipated sophomore album on Plug Research this Fall.

We are accepting offers for Fall/Winter 2010.

Exile

Exile has earned his name in the conversations of hip-hop’s top producers. Best known as one of the heroes in the independent game, Exile is pushing the envelope on what we are accustomed to hearing from producers, and Exile’s collaborative effort with emcee Blu on Below the Heavens and Fashawn on Boy Meets World has skyrocketed him to the top of the list of most-sought-after producers.

On-stage, he’s a wizard with the MPC, constructing – and then deconstructing – beats on the spot, manipulating fat basslines that consistently get crowds’ heads nodding and leave them in awe.

Exile is re-releasing his album, Radio, on Plug Research this fall. We are accepting offers for October 2010.

Tanya Morgan

Tanya Morgan is a rap group. And that seems apparently clear after their soon-to-be-classic sophomore album, Brooklynati (May 12 – Interdependent Media) started earning them Native Tongue comparisons from the likes of Billboard, Vibe, Spin, and XXL Magazine. “Tanya Morgan are like the sons of De La Soul — soulful, stressed, effortlessly smart flows, intricate production, the whole package,” says SPIN Music Editor Charles Aaron.

Tanya Morgan has toured across the US, performing with the likes of De La Soul, Heiroglyphics, Wale and The Roots. They are regular featured acts at The Roots Jam Session at Highline Ballroom and Donwill was a panelist on independent touring at this year’s New Music Seminar in New York City in 2009. In 2010, each member is releasing a solo album under the brand “Tanya Morgan Presents:” (Don Will’s Don Cusack in High Fidelity and Von Pea’s Pea’s Gotta Have It), as they get ready for the next Tanya Morgan album, TM3 in Spring of 2011.

We are accepting offers for Fall/Winter 2010.

Rich Medina

Rich Medina is a world-renowned DJ, producer and spoken word artist, known for his vast musical vocabulary and his keen ability to bring consistent and diverse crowds together on the dancefloor. He has performed for crowds in the thousands, DJing for musical icons ranging from Lauren Hill to De La Soul to Femi Kuti. In 2009, Rich was personally invited both to become an official member of the infamous Rock Steady Crew by b-boy legend, Crazy Legs, and to speak on an Afrobeat panel in London by the estate of Fela Kuti.

Rich Medina currently stands at the helm of three of New York City’s most popular recurring parties, including Jump N’ Funk, his quarterly tribute to Fela—taking crowds on a sonic journey through hip-hop, house, Afrobeat, funk and soul, unearthing one musical gem after another and adhering to a singular, uplifting creed: Love Afro Life. He recently completed a year-long DJ residency, alongside hip-hop pioneer Q-Tip, at Santos Party House, which was the hottest Friday night function in the New York City during Rich’s tenure.
