Music Supervisor and Now Jazzy Soul Singer Music Carolyn Releases “Satisfied”

musiccarolyn_871x471

A classically-trained vocalist whose first musical instrument was the clarinet, Music Carolyn’s tastes in music run the gamut from classical, to free jazz, to R&B to her foundation, gospel. Of her new release she says, “Don’t call it a single, it’s a #musicalmindset, an offering of #appreciation for #trust and #security and #reliability and #lastinglove.” She calls her brand of songs and stories soul jazz fusion. Her influences also include Jill Scott, Amel Larrieux, and Sade, but her sound is closer to Faith Evans, Brandy, and Tamia.

As we await the rush of ocean waves and the thrill of fireworks, enjoy “Satisfied” produced by Ty Macklin who’s worked with the likes of Erykah Badu, India Arie, N’dambi, Noel Gourdin and Sy Smith just to name a few.

“Satisfied” is a mid-tempo love fest for the feel-good thoughts you have in a satisfying long-term relationship or marriage. An expose on the simple things you don’t have to worry about when you’ve found, “The One.” The song has swanky backgrounds that remind us how much we miss Brandy’s intricate vocal arrangements, a walking bass line that makes the vibey tune “grind-able” and syncopated rhythms that groove listeners into a smooth two-step. Musically, Music Carolyn’s jazzy lead vocals, compliment the soul and hip-hop fused together magically by neo-soul producer Ty Macklin.

The song starts off with soothing harmonies that lead into a laid-back lead vocal that launches with stable and secure musings about a woman who says, “There’s never been a reason to doubt your devotion.” The chorus simply says “I’m Satisfied” but with infectious 4-part harmony that shifts and accents different syllables, lulling listeners to sing along. The lyric’s subject matter and the jazzy vocals, ad libs of which recall Anita Baker at times, make “Satisfied” a mood for people who aren’t new to love, but also don’t at all feel like it’s old. This song is a shout out to those who still feel “in love.” Take a listen: https://show.co/u0qKhbz
