E&J Brandy has launched its Generations of Soul campaign. Inspired by the rich and enduring heritage of soul music, Generations of Soul is an intimate look into soul’s resurgence, exploring the lineage and impact of the timeless genre with defining players of yesterday and today. Joined by iconic vocalist Lee Fields, Grammy-nominated Motown recording artist BJ the Chicago Kid, and Grammy-winning performer, producer, and songwriter Raphael Saadiq, E&J’s Generations of Soul looks to inspire new generations by celebrating the genre’s roots, its pioneers, and the contemporary artists who are shaping today’s music. The collaboration was announced today via Billboard.

Anna Bell, marketing director for E&J Brandy, said ‘At E&J, we remember where we came from.  The brand started in 1975 with a desire and a commitment to be the best.  As E&J celebrates its fortieth anniversary this year, we know that hard work and dedication made us what we are today. We’re proud of our roots and we celebrate those who are proud of theirs. And that is where Generations of Soul really came from.’

Generations of Soul begins with a film series to be released via E&J’s social media channels on Facebook, YouTube, and Twitter. The films feature interviews and performances filmed within an intimate club setting. The interviews provide an intimate look into the inspirations, influences, and passions of these great artists, highlighting the role soul music has played in their lives. All three musicians will also perform live renditions of songs both old and new, including an unreleased Raphael Saadiq song entitled, “Georgia.”  All content will be housed and regularly updated onwww.generationsofsoul.comfor the duration of the series.

Next month, on April 2, E&J will debut the campaign’s first event, an invitation-only, one-night performance dubbed Generations of Soul Live. The three artists will perform together for the first time ever at Los Angeles’ Mack Sennett Studios, a unique space built as a silent movie studio in 1916 by legendary producer Mack Sennett.

Generations of Soul will continue mid-year with the promotional release of the first of three limited edition 7″ vinyl recordings, each featuring music from a different Generations of Soul artist. The records include covers of classic soul songs and custom album photography, never to be available in this format again. The music will also be made available through E&J’s social media channels post-release.

The Generations of Soul campaign will culminate in October with one last concert event, this time featuring the three artists together in Chicago. Details are forthcoming but attendance will be by invitation only, largely through a flyaway sweepstakes that will be promoted via social media and retail activation.
