Four Collectives Reppin’ the L.A. Music Scene

Four Sounds – Four Rounds – One Winner

SMOG | Dim Mak | Friends of Friends | Jeffree’s

Red Bull Music Academy Culture Clash will return to Los Angeles on December 5, 2012 and will feature four internationally known and well-respected L.A.-based music collectives: Dim Mak and SMOG, both of whom competed in 2010, as well as, Friends of Friends and Jeffree’s, who are new additions to the competition.  The four collectives, each representing a different sound from the L.A. music scene, will battle to be named winner by the crowd.

True to a traditional Jamaican sound clash, each collective will bring in their own sound system and set-up shop on one of four individual stages at Exchange LA. The evening will kickoff a round called “Introducing the Crew,” which will allow each stage to warm-up their sound, and the crowd, with a 10-minute set.  The next round, titled “I Can Do What You Can Do Better” provides a competitive twist in which each collective will stray from their norm and play an interpretation of another collective’s signature sound.  The third round, “Let Us Entertain You,” will allow each collective to bring surprise special guests on stage.  The final round, called “Leave It All On The Table,” also known as “the banger round,” is when each collective pulls out their biggest and baddest tunes in an attempt to win over the crowd, once and for all.  By show of applause, cheers, hoots and hollers, which will be measured by a decibel meter, the crowd will vote for their favorite collective after each round.

With the four collectives performing under one roof, the Red Bull Music Academy Culture Clash promises to deliver not only a night you’ll never forget but also the very best in cross-genre exploration.  The event is open to music fans who are 21+ and tickets are available for $15 at www.RedBullMusicAcademy.com/CultureClashLA.

A full recording of the night will be streamed on Red Bull Music Academy Radio approximately one week after the event on RBMA Radio: www.rbmaradio.com.
